Tochigi Prefecture has a mild climate, relatively few natural disasters, abundant rivers, and beautiful scenery, perhaps best represented by Nikko National Park..
The Tochigi Prefectural Museum was founded in October ,1982 as a general museum, aimed at acquainting as many people as possible with Tochigi's nature and culture.
We conduct research in seven different fields: earth science, botany, zoology, archaeology, history, folklore, arts and crafts.
The museum exhibits the results of its research. There are numerous exhibits such as dioramas of mountains and rivers, indigenous flora and fauna, past lifestyles and cultural heritage of our prefecture.
We hope the exhibits will enable you to learn and to understand more about Tochigi.
We hope to serve not only as a museum acting as a gateway to the outer world but also as the central institute of culture in Tochigi.
Our aim is to teach the next generation about our unique culture and to contribute to the further development of our prefecture.
We hope that you enjoy the exhibits featuring Tochigi in its many varied aspects.
We produced the Official Guide Apps for iOS/Android, “Tochihaku Navi”.Scanning a QR code beside exibits, your device shows guide contents translated in English, Chinese(Simplified).
